I have always heard about how different John the Baptist and Jesus were. I have heard that John represented the end of the old ways of God and that Jesus began something totally new. You hear a lot of things, but what do the scriptures say? As I began to read about these men, a very different picture emerged. I decided to let Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, who was a disciple of both men, tell the story to our class.

A Story of Blessing
The book of Ruth as told by Boaz
Often people only read single verses or very small passages from the Old Testament. In doing so, they miss the context and thus the true meaning of the passages. We often skip over the unfamiliar and hard to pronounce names not realizing that the names may be an important part of the story.
While preparing to teach a short passage from the book of Ruth, I began studying the meaning behind the names of the people and places. As I did, the story really came alive to me. I decided to teach the entire book by retelling the story as Boaz might explain it if he were teaching the class. Getting inside his mind was a deeply moving experience so I would like to share it with you.
